Groundworks and Foundations

We excavated to create the different levels required, removing 150mm of material for the main patio area and more where needed for the raised sections. A 150mm layer of MOT Type 1 sub-base was installed and mechanically compacted to create a stable, load-bearing foundation.

Proper drainage was crucial for this project. We installed land drains beneath the patio area and ensured correct fall angles to direct water away from the property and prevent pooling on the paved surfaces.

Paving, Materials, and Finishing Details

Circular Feature: We used a Tobermore circular paving kit, which provides precision-cut blocks that create a perfect circle with professional-looking joints. The kit eliminates the need for cutting and ensures a flawless geometric finish.

Raised Beds: Treated granite sleepers were installed around the perimeter, creating elegant raised bed borders. These sleepers add height variation and provide planting opportunities for herbs, flowers, and shrubs that enhance the space throughout the seasons.

Multi-Level Design: Steps were integrated to connect different levels seamlessly, using matching paving materials to maintain design continuity. The levels create distinct zones for dining, relaxing, and planting while maximizing the garden's usable space.
