Our Landscaping Process

Groundworks and Foundations

We excavated the garden to 100mm depth, removing the existing lawn and topsoil. A comprehensive drainage system was installed first — this step is crucial for artificial grass success. We laid perforated land drains connected to a soakaway, ensuring water disperses quickly even during heavy rainfall.

A 50mm layer of MOT Type 1 aggregate was laid and compacted, creating a stable, free-draining base. On top of this, we added a 30mm layer of sharp sand, laser-leveled to ensure perfect gradients and no water pooling. This professional base preparation is what separates a quality installation from a budget job.

Artificial Grass, Paving, and Finishing Details

Premium Artificial Grass: We installed high-specification artificial grass with 35mm pile height, providing a realistic appearance and soft feel underfoot. The grass includes UV stabilization to prevent fading, anti-bacterial properties for hygiene, and excellent drainage capabilities with 30+ litres per square meter per minute.

Circular Paving Features: Decorative circular paving features were integrated into the grass to break up the space visually and provide hard-standing areas for garden furniture, play equipment, or planters. The paving was laid on the same professional foundation as the grass for longevity.

Edge Restraints: Professional edge restraints were installed around the perimeter and secured with galvanized pins to prevent lateral movement. The edges were neatly tucked and secured for a seamless, professional finish.

Infill Application: We applied silica sand infill to the grass fibers, helping them stand upright and providing ballast. The infill also improves drainage performance and gives the surface a more natural feel when walked upon.
